It’s quite surprising that such a simple idea could generate so much buzz. But thanks to Asus who pioneered the netbook revolution we can now have tiny laptops in the sub $200 region.
Needless to say there are plenty of companies who have entered the market since and with that it can be hard to find the best value for your dollar. So we have put together the top five netbooks in an easy to read list.
To make our list a netbook has to be best value for the price, bundled software and of course great upgrade and modification options. So without further ado, the five best netbooks.
Asus Eee PC 901
At the top of our list is the Asus Eee PC 901. Asus was pioneer of this field and they are still putting out some solid systems although they are facing fierce competition from the likes of Acer, HP and of course Dell. The major points of this netbook are its battery size which has been increased and the improved launch buttons and still maintaining its small size and weight. That and the fact that the Asus Eee PC still has the most modifications for a netbook released makes this system the perfect companion for the road or note taking in class.
HP Mini 1000
HP is not to be joked with as they keep churning out some of the best notebooks. The same thing goes for the netbook department. When the Mini-Note 2133 was released it was hailed as having the best keyboard for a netbook. The same thing goes for the Mini 1000 which is the consumer version of the Mini-Note 2133. Plus the Mini 1000 has some awesome expansion and modification options. That and the price make this an irresistible system.
Acer Aspire One
It’s the top notebook in terms of sale and after taking a look at Acer’s Aspire One it’s not hard to see why. The notebook does not carry and performance bending specs but it still has an attractive price for such a system. It’s very attractive and comes in a variety of colors as well as its keyboard which is a mark above most netbooks. We’ll be honest, you can find a better package else ware but its hard to find a better buy for your buck.
MSI Wind
MSI has more than a little wind under its sales. The MSI Wind is a feature packed system with some great expansion and modification options. But our favorite feature is the ability to overclock the system via its x1.09 BIOS. Thanks to this feature has been maxed out to a full 2GHz. That’s quite impressive of itself. But even if you never go over the edge with overclocking there are still enough cool features to hold you to the Wind.
Dell Inspiron 9
It’s not a surprise that the Dell Inspiron makes it on this list. Dell has adjusted the motherboard enough to take a whole host of modifications and upgrades. We’ve seen everything from touchscreens to GPS units installed into these tiny systems. And since you’re not spending an arm and a leg on this its about time that you experiment and have some fun with modifying your system.
