In the battle of low cost computers, AMD announced today raised the bar by releasing a new quad-core processor for less than $100. The AMD Athlon II X4 quad-core 620 and 630 are supposed to be energy efficient (using less power than a 75W lightbulb), but still provide the performance necessary to satisfy the hunger of an High Difinition media computer.

Let’s see how Intel will counter this offer by AMD if any at all. The cheapest Quad-core Intel CPU I could find on New Egg was for $129.99. Hopefull at IDF next week we will see some price dropping offers from Intel.
