Apple finally acknowledges Blu-ray
After infamously trashing Blu-ray and claiming that the platform is a “bag of trouble,” Apple has finally taken note of the disc format. No they are not releasing a new Mac Pro, or some iMac with built in Blu-ray support or better yet a 17-inch Macbook Pro with Blu-ray burner. Rather it comes in the form of supported format for their ever so popular Final Cut Studio.
As it stands this is the only information Apple is giving out there to actually show they recognize the platform. But we are a little puzzled as they were touted as one of the launching partners of Blu-ray by Sony back in the days when Blu-ray and HD-DVD were at it. We’ll just have to see if this materializes into Blu-ray Macs come later this year or earlier next year. Because we all know you cannot edit Blu-ray movies and not have a drive on your computer unless you want to be taken for an idiot.
