macbook1 Apple Introduces 17 inch MacBook ProIn the latest press release Apple announced a new version of the Apple MacBook Pro 17 inch that features a long life, non removable battery, a thinner profile and a optional anti-glare screen with a highly recyclable aluminium uni-body. Weighing in at 6.6 pounds and less than an inch in thickness this is Apples most powerful notebook yet.

Under the hood it’s been equipped with a 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 6MB on chip shared L2 cache; GeForce 9600 M GT video card, 100MHz front bus, 4GB of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM memory and a 320GB hard disk drive.

Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO stated ” we’ve developed new battery technology that is better for the user and better for the environment. Apple’s advanced chemistry and innovative technology deliver up to eight hours of use on a full charge cycle and up to 1,000 recharges”.

The battery offers up to eight hours of productivity and can be recharges up to 1000 times, which is amazing being the average notebook only gets between 200 to 300 recharges. The battery is forty percent larger than previous generations and non-removable. Apples engineer’s custom designed the battery with lithium polymer cells so it could be made larger for greater stored energy capacity.

Apple is boasting the new MacBook Pro is among it’s greenest line of laptops ever built. It’s clear Apple had the environment in mind with this new build as it’s made of recyclable materials, the biggest plus it’s without many toxins that are used in most other computers. The notebook has distinguished itself by earning an EPEAT Gold rating, it meets stringent Energy Star 4.0 requirements; contains no arsenic, BFR, mercury, contains no brominated flame retardants and uses internal cables and components that are PVC-free. The battery can be replaced for $179.00 US Dollars and will be disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.
