Sorry to hear all this Snake and thanks for keeping us up to speed
I’m having the same problem. There’s nothing on their website relating to ths.
I have one. The system keeps freezing and when it comes to or you reset the system it tells me that my RAID volume has degraded and one of my drives is bad. This is on two sets of 4 hard drives. One set of 4 is from a working system and the others are brand new.
When I contacted Asus support the tech asked how I got one of these before they were released. They are available everywhere and have been for some time.
Found this info. I will try it and let you know if I trash my drives.

Well, I got the WDTLER utility to change the TLER on my WD Caviar Black drives. The drives I have are too new and WD has removed the ability to change the TLER on these drives. They would rather you buy the RE (RAID Enterprise) drives from them
So, it’s back the the store for me to return the WD Blacks and pay a 15% restocking fee. Now it’s time to try out Barracudas instead.
