ASUS’s newest gaming notebook, at $1,699 the ASUS G50V, the successor to the original G1. This notebook has a unique orange coloring, LED display, and blue accent lights: it definitely screams ” I’m a gaming notebook”. ASUS released this new 15.4″ gaming notebook to hit the market for this holiday season.  The G50V-A1 is one of the finest machines produced by ASUS performance-wise.

This notebook offers excellent performance with a mid-range NVIDIA GeForce 9700M GT discrete graphics, and Intel’s Centrino 2 platform with a 2.54GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T9400. There’s also 4GB of RAM, and two 320GB 5,400rpm hard drives for a total of 640GB of storage and lets not forget to mention the high-quality WSXGA+ screen. The G50V-A1 comes with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit, with 4GB of DDR2-800 RAM. The notebook includes an 8X DVD-RW Super Multi drive, 8-in-1 memory card reader, built-in 1.3-megapixel webcam, and Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100AGN with built-in Bluetooth support. It’s bundled with useful accessories such as a backpack and gaming mouse, which isn’t the norm by the way. The G50V-A1 is covered with a two-year warranty, and the first year includes accident damage coverage as well.  The ASUS G50V also comes with a recovery disk that can be useful in the case of emergency.

Overall, the G50V-A1is a quality gaming machine.  Affordable price; attractive case design includes LED lights; 10-key number pad; near-1080p display resolution; combined 500GB of storage space; Express Gate software lets you access media and the Web without booting Windows; laptop comes with external mouse and carrying case. The affordable, gaming-oriented Asus G50V delivers playable frame rates in a portable, 15.4-inch case. If not for a 17-inch gamer from Gateway reviewed here, we’d say this Asus laptop is an unbeatable value.
