Best Phones for Multimedia
It’s becoming more and more apparent that phones are doing a lot more then texting and making calls. In fact every year they go a little farther in their list of features.
On the other hand, not every phone is capable of handling what you need and there is a great possibility that some phones will perform better at your specific task then others. Because of that we have decided to put a list together of the best multimedia phones on the market.
iPhone
This was an absolutely shoe in. No one can dispute that the iPhone has been the premier multimedia phone since its debut a few years back. And although its facing some steep competition from the likes of Palm and Nokia, it has still managed to remain the undisputed king.
So the only question remains is how much will you like a Smartphone without a physical keyboard. If you can live with it than no problem, this phone is made for you.
We’ll be honest with you though, while the iPhone tops our list of the best multimedia phones, it doesn’t mean it tops our list as the best Smartphones. If you want to read the answer then check out or “Five Best Smartphone” article.
Nokia N97
What makes the N97 so great is that it makes up for a lot of what the iPhone left off. Number one it has strong multimedia capabilities, and still carries the usability that you would expect from a Smartphone thanks to its QWERTY keyboard.
Although the iPhone can take pictures, it lacks video, the N97 makes up with that (shooting at 30fps). It also carries tighter integration between social networks like Facebook and MySpace. And if that was not enough it can still shoot 5 megapixel shots of whatever interests you.
The only thing the iPhone really bests it at is the multitude of third party apps and of course iTunes.
Sony Ericsson Xperia 1
This is arguably the sexiest slider ever released. Sony is known for their strong emphasis on design and the Xperia is a tribute to that. But design is not the only thing that makes this sexy beast shine. Although its running a skinned version of Window’s 6.1 Professional it still has some beefed up features like Facebook integration, video recording, and not to mention AGPS and its GSM so you’re pretty much covered all over the world.
Blackberry Bold
We were in odds as to whether place the Storm or Bold on the list. But after careful consideration and rating processes the Bold slightly edged out the Storm. Both phones are running the latest version of the Blackberry OS but the bold adds some features that the Storm just hasn’t quite mastered yet.
For instance the speakers on the Bold far surpass that of the Storm. The screen is one of the brightest we have ever seen on a phone and the keyboard is the icing on the cake.
In terms of multimedia, you get video recording via a 3.2 megapixel camera as well as stills, you get Facebook, Myspace and Flickr apps as well as Microsoft Live Messenger which I have fallen in love with since I got my Blackberry. Couple that with the strong productivity features and you have a phone who does the best at both worlds.
