BlackBerry App World Officially Live
Folks it looks like the highly anticipated and long-awaited BlackBerry App World is finally ready and live for your pleasure. As we expected, RIM has launched its mobile application store, dubbed BlackBerry App World. The applications for download will be both free and paid, with prices ranging from $2.99 USD and up. For those of you who were a bit jealous of iPhone users, you can now enjoy tons of your own applications for your BlackBerry with many being developed by the same providers who produced many of the iPhone applications.
Our sources say if your a developer, you will have to pay a $200 USD fee to join the program, and they’ll keep 80 percent of the revenue. I think it’s important to note that payments will be processed through Paypal, so you will need a Paypal account to purchase the paid apps, but there will be the free ones if you don’t won’t to sign up for Paypal.
This is no doubt some good news for Blackberry owners. The selection of the apps in the App World is already good; some of the apps that are currently offered are Shazam, Bloomber, Facebook, MySpac, Yahoo Messenger, ICQ, Pandora, Google Talk and a fun little game called Brain Challenge 2. No doubt there are many more apps on the way as developers pump out new applications everyday so enjoy.
