Bodega, One Stop Shopping for Apps your Mac Deserves
Mac only: Looking around the Internet for new software is such a time consuming event, in fact it out right sucks. But trying out the new software is cool. That’s where IDFusion Software wants to step into the picture, their the company behind Bodega – a new application store for Mac apps.
Bodega is a free download for everyone, it’s populated with links to and information on tons of old and new software for Mac OS X. The storefront also gives the developers an alternative method to sell their applications, which means you can deal directly with the maker if you wish. Something else I found cool about Boldega is there are links to press articles and blog postings, so you can read what another writer has to say about the app before you purchase. There’s also user reviews to read which helps a lot when your on the prowl for anapplication.
The interface and design is pretty slick. The apps are sorted into categories like finance, games, and productivity and displays them on a digital shelf which aims to mimic a real-life shopping experience. Although the categories are well structured, some apps that fit in multiple categories aren’t always where you would expect to find them. Throughout the web site, you’ll find a nice mix of paid, free, and open source software, and it seems like their adding more software everyday.
Personally, I think flipping through an online catalog for apps beats searching the Internet any day, how about you. Have an opinion? Let us know in the comments, we want to hear bout it.
