Five Years of Firefox and Counting

Happy Birthday FireFox CakeIt’s been five years now since Firefox first arrived on the scene as an open source browser ready for download. It’s been one heck of a ride since then, to think that this browser changed the way we do things on the Internet.

In the 1990s, Netscape had lost its dominance in the browser market to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, Netscape created an open-source project called Mozilla.

In just five short years the number of Firefox users has grown to just over 30 million worldwide; almost a quarter of Internet users worldwide have chosen Firefox as their Internet browser. Firefox now comes in more than 70 languages and offers users more than 7,000 add-ons to help customize their browsing experience. We did an article called 50 Recommended Firefox Extensions which is no doubt a save for your favorites. Check out the video after the break.
