stumbleupon Get StumbleUpon Toolbar in Any Browser, No Installation NeededWere big fans of Stumbleupon as it is a fantastic way to randomly explore some of the best websites, photos and videos on the Internet. Stumbleupon shows you websites you are likely to enjoy via recommendation from like minded people.

How does Stumbleupon do this?  First, you download and install the Stumbleupon Toolbar, after set-up you check off topics you like in the preferences section of your assigned page. That’s how Stumbleupon knows what you like.

On the toolbar is a button labeled Stumble and next to that are two icons of a thumbs up and a thumbs down. You click the Stumble button to send you to a website based off the preferences you checked off on your account, if you like the page you click the thumbs up icon and it is recommended to another like person. Same applies for the thumbs down icon, except you are saying you don’t like it.

It’s a super fantastic method to discover websites you otherwise would have never found. The only problem is the toolbar is currently for Internet Explorer and Firefox only. There’s no official support for Opera and Apple Safari.

There is however a quick fix so you can continue to seek out great websites with StumbleUpon without downloading the toolbar. The Digital Inspiration blog points us to a “virtual toolbar” offered by the site, and it works on most  up to date browsers to include the iPhone/iPod Touch version of Safari. So you Opera and Safari diehards can now have the  stumbleupon experience without using another browser.

Though this is a great alternative, there is one downside. Once you have hit the Stumble button, you can’t go back to any of the previous pages you have stumbled to :-(

So, if you are like me and get a little over-excited with the stumble button (especially if a page takes too long to load) you end up seeing something really cool on one page just after you hit the stumble button to go to the next page

I also have Chrome browser and it is working fine. But what I really like is it works on my Safari browser too. My Safari browser is much faster than Firefox and IE, I can speed stumble now, hehe Why didn’t they do this from the start
