How to Reach 50 Million Users in 2 Years

John Furrier has posted an interesting video about exponential growth in today’s digital age. In today’s continuously fast connected society, good ideas have some serious potential to reach millions of people in an incredibly short amount of time.

Facts: In 1984, there were 1000 devices connected to the Internet, and I was one of them on the net via the United States Army using a whopping 300 baud modem. Then in 1992, there were 1,000,000 devices connected, how sweet it was eh.

Now keep in mind 1992 is before the 1994 “commercialization” of the Internet.  In 2008, it’s 1,000,000,000 devices. In 16 years, the number of devices increased by a factor of 10. Exponential growth indeed.

Today it took the iPod 3 years to hit a market of 50,000,000 users and Facebook only 2 years. It really is incredible the numbers that the video threw out. This video makes you pause and think about how times are changing.

Enjoy the video some really cool facts.
