Iomega rolls out Home Media Network Hard Drive
The Home Media Network Hard Drive was the name given to Iomega’s latest external storage device released at CES 2009. The Home Media Network Hard Drive comes in two sizes, 500Gb and 1Tb.
The Home Media Network Hard Drive works similar to a server which enables users with multiple computers to store data in a centralized storage that also allows for easy access when required. Also it helps you in streaming digital media to Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) devices and uses it as an external iTunes server. Just three-steps, and installation process gets done and the drive is up and running.
The software central to the drive is the EMC LifeLine Home software that runs on the Linux operating system. During installation setup you can select the files and folders for auto backup at what ever time you want, it is advice to select off peak hours for back-up. Connectivity is done through the help of USB and Gigabit Ethernet. For added data security, users get 2Gb online backup with Mozy.
The cost will be $160 and $230 for 500GB and 1TB respectively, The drives are ready and about to hit the stores at the end of this month.
