iPhone App to start your car and unlocks doors
A new free application has arrived at the Apple App store called the Viper SmartStart. This app will lock or unlock your car remotely. SmartStart will also open the trunk, trigger your panic alarm, and actually start the engine.
So when it’s really cold outside you can start your car from inside the comfort of your warm home. Because your using the iPhone to communicate with your car distance isn’t an issue.
The iPhone app connects via the cell phone network to a hardware module installed in your car which controls the five functions:
1. starts your car
2. turn on the heat
3. unlock your doors
4. unlock trunk
5. manage the car alarm
The app being free is the good news, now for the hardware. In order for SmartStart to control your ride, you’ll need to have the SmartStart iPhone compatible hardware installed, which will cost you $500. If you have the Viper alarm system already installed, then you will be looking at $300. There is also an annual fee of $29.99. If you have the cash to throw down on a remote vehicle start kit operated via your iPhone and you like cool, this may be for you.
Below we added a video that shows off all the SmartStart’s features.
