LaCie Starck Desktop and Mobile HDDs
LaCie has announced two external hard drives to their showcase, the Starck Desktop and Starck Mobile, both were designed by the famous French designer, Phillippe Starck.
The Starck Desktop drive is a 3.5-inch hard drive with 1TB ($129.99) or 2TB ($249.99) of storage capacities, and designed for connection to a desktop PC running Windows or Mac OS via USB Interface. The most remarkable features on this drive is its intelligent touch-sensitive surface, which responds to your touch, the user can customize the touch-sensitive surface to open an application of their choosing with the touch of a finger.
The LaCie Starck Desktop external hard drive comes in a 3mm resistant aluminum casing and has a status LED in the form of Starck’s signature symbol that glows orange when there is activity on the drive.
The Starck Mobile portable hard drive comes in 320GB ($99.99) or 500GB ($139.99) capacities that connects to notebook via USB port and have a built-in retractable USB cable which resides inside the casing. The portable drive is powered from the USB connection. The LaCie Starck Mobile external HDD also supports automatic backup of data.
