Microsoft Office 2010 Starter Edition has ads

Microsoft has been gaining a considerable amount of competition from OpenOffice, Google Docs and a bunch of other opensource alternatives to Redmond’s flagship productivity suite. To help counteract that, Microsoft has released Office Live which is an online version of their productivity suite that is supported by ads. However the company isn’t stopping ther and we’re hearing that a “Starter Edition” of Office 2010 will include ads. Said edition of the latest installment of the productivity suite will be free and this will be supported by ads.

So far from what we’re seeing, they are not obtrusize and the program operates fine while they sit in the sidebar. Check out the two shots we got courtesy of Gizmodo.
