Microsoft Security Essentials First Look and Impressive

microsoft security 588x232 Microsoft Security Essentials First Look and ImpressiveMicrosoft has changed the computer world as we know it with the release of Microsoft Security Essentials antivirus software. There is finally a free antivirus that protects against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software, and it does so without without dragging your system performance down to a slow crawl like most of the others do.

Having it installed on three separate computer’s I can honestly say it provided real-time protection in the back ground without me barely noticing a slow down or has it ever effected my work. We went so far as to download a few isolated viruses to test, and it detected and blocked them immediately.

Microsoft created this wonderful product to replace Windows Defender for malware protection and to add anti-virus, rootkit and Trojan scanning abilities. The free antivirus software has automatic updates, optional scanning of archive files, support for removable drives, email attachment scanning, advanced options to exclude files by type and location as well as customizable alert actions.

As you can see the interface is simple and easy to use

When I first heard of the beta I thought to myself, ok I’ll need to follow this to bring our readers up to speed -  it was yet another free antivirus program that I was sure to find some flaws with. Then I started my research and discovered that not only did AV-Test.org find that it detects 98% of their 545 thousand malware samples database, but AV-Comparatives (a widely known anti-malware testing group) found that MSE was one of only three products that did well at both finding and removing malware, including the leftovers.

As a mater of fact it was also the only free product to grab their “Advanced+” rating, which means it is the best by test and top honor for an anti-malware software solution, this is impressive to say the least. If you take this free offer for a test drive you will notice there is nothing fancy about this software, it has a simple and user friendly interface, which is the way they should be.

You will get free updates on a regular basis, and it’ll works nicely with Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 — click the link below that applies to your system to download a copy and enjoy.

Microsoft Security Essentials is available for Windows XP 32-bit (8.61MB), Windows Vista/7 32-bit (4.28MB), and Windows Vista/7 64-bit (4.71MB).
