Mike Rowe Celebrates Dirty Jobs – Video
For those of you whom do not know who Mike Rowe is, let me shed some light on that briefly. Mike has held more jobs than any living person on the planet. Mike is the host of the popular series Dirty Jobs, which is in it’s fifth year on the Discovery Channel. On the show, he learns and performs hundreds of jobs that require him to get dirty. Basically he is an apprentice who does what he is told in the shoes of the everyday American worker who gets dirty for a living — he has done everything from being a pig farmer, fisherman, beekeeper, roadkill-removal specialists, to bat biologists.
Mike Rowe, the host of “Dirty Jobs,” tells some compelling real-life job related stories in this video. Listen as he shares his thoughts and his observations about the nature of hard work, and the men and women behind the labor intense jobs that most of us won’t or can’t do. This speech is one of the best Ive ever heard and no doubt if you know what makes Mike tick then you know there is a good bit of humor as well. Watch the video below as Mike tells a few stories about his job, I’m sure if you like the show the video will please you.

Great. So he’s making big bucks knowing he doesn’t have to
“continue” some “dirty job” … it’s a “one time deal”. And now
he’s on the stage of TED (I hope y’all know what TED is) being
the heroic and masterful comedian, explaining what it means
to be a true worker.
He’s a marketing rep – he’s marketing his “product”, and if
people don’t see that, then they’re in the dark and only see
the TV as an entertainment device.
*ALL* TV shows are all about their bottom line – do people
think TV shows are produced for the humanity of people?
Ask Mike Rowe to quit his job at the “Discovery Channel”
and take on a *real* job, such as one he’s done for a *day*,
for a few years and let’s hear his opinion then …
I don’t think anybody watches television for the humanity of people. It’s just a damn show. So he’s in a position do to what he wants and not work shitty jobs anymore and get paid well for a tv show. Good for him, bad for us right? That instantly makes him a bad guy and only out for himself and his money, right?
“then they’re in the dark and only see
the TV as an entertainment device.”
That’s all the television is. An entertainment device. If you don’t see that yet, and you are actually holding on to some of idea that you’ll gain knowledge or any sort of wisdom from watching television, you don’t understand television.
Television has never pretended to be anything but what it is. Cheap, sleazy entertainment available to all who are willing to pay for it. I suggest you open your eyes and realize that Mike Rowe is the least of our problems when Bill O`Reilly and Glenn Beck are parading around the screen.
You sound like a conspiracy theorist. Get on with your life, it’s just a TV show and you don’t need to go all batshit because of something a guy who works for a channel said.
Had to stop watching this at 3:07. Was eating chicken pot pie at the time, which didn’t help. Ugh..
I love watching this show. I have worked many different jobs including serving our country (RET.), obtaining a lot of knowledge at each job. I am very happy working outdoors, getting my hands dirty instead of sitting behind a desk, gossiping or complaining. I believe a person gains more knowledge actually learning “on the job” instead of from books. It’s unfortunate the human population has gotten lazy, expecting to get paychecks without earning them.
To me, Knowledge is power! Mike Rowe is gaining knowledge with every show & sharing with the world. What a blessing that is & I should know, I have worked digging ditches, mowing weeds, a/c service, sign installation, construction, demolition, electrician, roofing, plumbing, winemaking, mechanic, etc… his show I can’t get enough of!!!He is an inspiration. Thanks for sharing. Sincerely, Tim N Thorpe
Hi Dan, thanks for dropping in. Yes, you are so correct. That’s one of many reasons why I enjoy this man’s show.
You have to respect someone who says I looked at this subject and it really challenged my preconceptions. In fact I got it wrong. Who then goes on to reassess their beliefs in the light of their experience. This is what Mike has done and it is refreshing to see.
