NVIDIA Announces Quadro FX 4800 graphics card for Mac Pro
If you been wanting to add a high end $1,800 video card to your Mac Pro then your in luck, NVIDIA has finally produced it’s ultra-high-end solution Quadro FX 4800 graphics card for the Mac. NVIDIA describes this graphics card as the “market’s most advanced professional graphics card”. The features are similar specs as the recently released PC version:
- 1.5GB frame buffer
- Memory bandwidth up to 76.8 GB/sec
- Boot Camp support (With Boot Camp, users can experience the full features and accelerated performance of native Quadro 3D graphics when running professional Windows applications).
- 2 DVI connectors that are dual-link and a 3-pin connector for 3D viewing (This produces stereoscopic images that can be compatible with 3D glasses)
- 192 graphics cores
- a maximum power consumption of 150W
NVIDIA GM of Professional Solutions, Jeff Brown, said in a statement, “Some of the world’s most challenging visual computing problems are solved on the Mac platform. The Quadro FX 4800 provides the power and speed to meet these demanding requirements.”
The Quadro FX 4800 won’t be available until May for $1,799.
