Opera Reveals Version 10 Alpha
By Bob on Jan 04, 2009 in Computer Software
Seems like just yesterday Opera Software ASA released it’s latest version 9.6 browser. This week Opera Software announced it’s next big release, Opera 10, and now there’s an alpha version for everyone to try out. This latest version showcases a new rendering engine, Presto 2.2 (the foundation of all future Opera 10 products), which Opera states will improve browsing performance over the previous version by a 30 percent. The new Presto 2.2 engine should bring faster browsing, and better adherence to W3C standards.
Fine tuning it’s standard support, Opera 10 alpha achieves an Acid3 100/100 Test score – a means of measuring compliance with web standards. This version also provides Web developers with a whole range of new technologies for building better Web sites. Naturally, the alpha release isn’t as stable browser as the final cut. However, it’s already integrated several new tools to make their debut with the browser, including auto-updates, inline spell-checking, and rich-text composition within the built-in email client, Opera Mail. The Opera 10 beta is tentatively scheduled for release early next year.

According to Netapplications.com the lion’s share of the browser market belongs to Microsoft Internet Explorer If you wish to try the Opera 10 Alpha version yourself, you can download it here.
