Pioneer releases three new BD-Live Blu-ray Players

1 Pioneer releases three new BD Live Blu ray PlayersAt CES 2009 Pioneer unveiled three new BD-Live Blu-Ray disc players- BDP-120, BDP-320, and Elite BDP-23FD. All three of these models are full decoding and bit-stream output for the best hi-res audio formats. Pioneer installed USB ports on the units to allow connections to flash drives and they added hard drives for added BD-Live storage.

Another nice features Pioneer added to these players is they come with an Ethernet connection port so you can upgrade with the latest firmware when they are available. These units are equipped with either on-board memory or expandable memory with a release to market date sometime in April. Pioneer has said the new models combine a state-of-the-art chip set and video processing solutions with Pioneer’s 1080p True 24 FPS feature that should deliver top-notch detailed, natural imagery.

Here are some main features and how they differ:

The Pioneer BDP-120 is the more affordable unit, it has BD Live with No Internal Memory but comes with a 1GB flash drive. It will feature BD-Live capability; 1080p True 24 fps video output; internal audio decoders; HDMI 1.3a output; and more, Ethernet connection for BD-Live and firmware updates. Again April is the release date and the price is to be determined.

The Pioneer BDP-320 will come with 1GB of internal on-board memory, which means you won’t have to purchase additional memory to become BD-live enabled. Some of the finer features that stand out on this unit are 48-bit Deep Color support; Kuro-Link for advance picture settings and unified remote operation; noise reduction circuits to enhance image quality ; a Precision Quartz Lock System (PQLS) ensures smooth jitter free audio playback; plus other features. Ethernet connection for BD-Live and firmware updates. Again April is the release date and the price is to be determined.

The Elite BDP-23FD comes with 1GB internal memory for supporting BD-Live content and an additional USB storage port. The only unit to come with RS-232C interface for that larger home theater system. Like the BDP-320 this model has the KURO Link Picture Mode which optimizes displayed output . Front mounted USB port for that audio, video and photo playback from flash drives. Precision Quartz Lock System (PQLS) for jitter-free audio transmission of all advanced audio formats including Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master. Ethernet connection for BD-Live and firmware updates. The best feature on this model is the CD to USB encoding, which allows you to rip Cd’s into MP3 format and copy them to flash drive, hard drive or your MP3 player with the use of a personal computer. Pretty nifty eh! Again April is the release date and the price is to be determined.
