How to Chill Wine and Beer Fast

Generally, it takes about 2 hours to chill a bottle of wine or a six pack of beer in the refrigerator and roughly about and hour or so on ice alone. If it’s wine you are cooling, the freezer will help to speed things up a bit, but that’s rough treatment for delicate wines.

Here’s what you do, place the wine or beer in a bucket of ice, add some water and a large handful of salt. The salt will reduce the freezing point of the water which allows the mix to become super chilled, this takes about six minutes.

White wines and champagnes are generally served chilled. Red wines are almost always served at room temperature, unless you live in the tropics of course where one may chill the wine in the refrigerator for 0 minutes, then leave it out on the counter for 10 minutes to warm up.

Vertical gardens are a space-efficient means of producing all those favorite veggies you love so much, especially if you live in the city where space is a premium. DIY site Instructables has a handy guide on how-to create one of these wonderful eye pleasing gardens together.

There are plenty of ways to set up a garden at your home, my wife Sharon a normal garden out back near the fence and loads of hanging baskets and pots are all over the place. She has about any type of container you can think of with some sort of plant growing in it. She does use the fence as well to grow her beans and a few other variety of vegetables. I must say that sinking your teeth into some organically home grown veggies is a plus around my house. It’s not all that hard to build a garden, just takes a little bit of your time.

Anyway on with the project. You will need some tools for the vertical garden such as a hammer, drill, saw and a screwdriver. Then their are some materials needed like a few pieces of wood, jute cloth, plastic and a handful of screws to assemble all this together.

Basically whats involved here is a frame needs to be built and filled with soil and some water. For a step by step block of instructions, check out the article below.

Here’s a nice and easy way to install Linux on your netbook just like you would any other application, no partitioning, no formating your hard drive, just install, and take Ubuntu’s Netbook Remix for a test drive. With Ubuntu’s Netbook Remix you can install and remove Ubuntu from Windows, just like any other software application.

Over at How-To Geek’s, Matthew details the simple process of installing Ubuntu. No need to burn a CD. Just launch the installer, select “Ubuntu Netbook” enter a password for the new account, and click “Install”, go grab some java and when you return, Ubuntu will be ready to rock. We have discussed several methods previously about installing Linux (10 easy ways to try Linux without leaving Windows).

Matthew is kind enough to spell out how to make your Windows files and folders easily reachable from the Ubuntu desktop, he also breaks down a more advanced Windows/Ubuntu boot option. Finally, he gives a helpful and basic tour of Ubuntu. This is no doubt an easy way to check out Ubuntu on a netbook.

Good knife skills are a combination of knowledge and practice, the knowledge of how to hold and move a knife along with what types of knives are best to use on the types of foods you want to cut. Almost everyone sooner or later has to cook their own food, and that means there is no escape from using the knife. The more you know how to use it the safer your fingers are going to be.

If you like to eat healthy, vegetables are a welcome addition to any persons diet. Living a healthy and happy life in a western country can be is almost impossible when fast food like hamburgers are cheaper than the average veggie. But if you want to live a healthier lifestyle you have to make the hard choices of staying away from fast food, and lean more towards home cooked meals with fresh vegetables.

Naturally, just about every recipe begins with a block of instructions: first, cut up a chicken, slice an onion, mince or dice some garlic, tomatoes and so on. Yet so many people or even cooks know the basic knife skills to safely and effectively cut a chicken.
