Things we’re still missing from the iPhone 3GS
The iPhone 3GS has been out for two months plus and since that time it has garnered award after award as well as the admiration of millions of loyal owners. And why not, it is one of the best smartphones on the market. But even though it is in its third generation, there are things Apple could improve on, and after using the new device for quite some time now I decided to publically list some ways the iPhone comes up short.
Multitasking:
This goes without saying actually, but we’ve been waiting 3 years for this and up to now it has yet to come to the attention of Steve Jobs that people just don’t listen to Bon Jovi and surf the web at the same time. Some of us actually switch between email, contacts, facebook and word documents, this action is called multitasking and apparently Steve Jobs is not aware that it exists.
And please don’t bring up the battery life crap, because Blackberry has proved that multitasking can be accomplished without draining battery life (unfortunately Palm is yet to learn this).
Productivity Apps:
This might not speak for everyone, but if Apple is going to court the corperate world (which they obviously are), they are going to have to do better in their productivity app selection. Company execs don’t use iFart apps regularly, but they do work on presentations and word documents on the world. Thankfully we are seeing more of these apps appearing (DataViz recently took the jump), but managing a server from the iPhone or accepting credit card data from a client while on the road are things I would like to see on the 3GS,
Internal Memory Access:
I remember back in the days when I was a Blackberry and had tethering on my device. It was hard to keep in the 5GB limit, so more times then not, when I needed to download a program or large file, I would do it via the phone itself and then transfer it from the phone to the computer.
The ability to access internal memory on the iPhone is a biggie for many of us who like to double our mobile phone as a flash drive. It’s not that hard to get Apple, people do keep files other then pictures, music and videos on their cellphones nowadays.
