Toshiba announces Blu-ray-equipped Satellite P500 Multimedia Laptop
Toshiba has just announced its latest notebook, the Satellite P500. Thier latest edition sports a 18.4″ high definition TruBrite LCD display offering resolution of up to 1920x1080p for Full HD image playback at a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9 that will surely breath new life into your DVD collection. The TruBrite screen is perfectly suited to high definition images coupled with it’s Blu-ray Re-Writable drive this machine will offer superior HD performance.
Lifting up the hood we see this bad boy is equipped with a fast Intel Core 2 Duo processors assisted by 4GB’s of DDR2 memory and a Nvidia GeForce 230M GT (1GB VRAM) graphics processor, along with a 500GB HDDs is without a doubt targeting users who want a powerful laptop for pure computing power and high definition multimedia performance.
Digging down deeper we see the Satelite P500 is equipped with a Blu-ray Re-Writable drive that supports Blu-ray ROM, BD-R and BD-RE and DVD SuperMulti DL +/RW. Having all that BD support ensures users can not only view video with a new level of clarity, but also burn content to Blu-ray discs using a Blu-ray Disc drive. This is starting to get my attention!
The Toshiba Satellite P500 provides clear rocking audio in the form of integrated Harman Kardon speakers to compliment the HD output making this a outstanding system that is second to none for music lovers and gamers alike.
Multimedia Connectivity is no stranger to this beast, peripheral devices can be connected via three USB 2.0 ports. There’s an eSATA/USB combo port which is going to ensures some serious fast-file transfers. Toshiba sweetens the deal with USB Sleep-and-Charge, enabling users to charge mobile devices while the laptop is shut down.
Some additional trimmings include: TV tuner card, VGA and HDMI-out, remote control embedded WLAN interface (802.11 a/b/g/n) with diversity antenna or via Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, HD webcam, Firewire, S/PDIF digital audio interfacing, an Express Card slot and 5-in-1 Bridge Media port.
This stylish laptop features an elegant black finish and a full-size backlit keyboard with flat keys in a matt black finish alongside a full numeric keypad and eight feather-touch buttons that provide fast access to multimedia functions. The multi-touch control pad allows users greater control by providing the ability to use fingers to pinch, swipe or rotate using the trackpad alone to zoom and scroll.
The new Satellite P500 is Energy Star 5.0 certified, and features the Eco Utility tool – a software application which allows users to monitor how much energy their laptop is consuming and reduce the energy consumption by as much as 25%.
