Toshiba’s JournE touch multimedia tablet plus hands-on video!
Toshiba is showing off it’s 7-inch multimedia tablet, the JournE touch at IFA. The resistive touchscreen tablet runs on Windows CE 6.0 Pro and supports a broad range of codecs (H.264, DivX, WMV), 802.11b/g WiFi, along with some online multimedia services like Internet Explorer, Picasa, YouTube, Instant Messenger Clients and Flickr.
Toshiba’s new tablet is WiFi enabled and its separately sold base station has USB and HDMI outlets.Toshiba claims the battery life is about 14 hours while web surfing. It is capable of playing HD videos, but battery life will fall to about 2.5 hours. Unfortunately there’s only 1GB of internal storage and that can be expanded via the SD slot. The multimedia tablet can access external storage via USB giving you access to all your favorites.
If you already have a computer acting as a media box, this may not be an attractive deal for you. If space is an issue or you don’t desire a computer, this may be a option to consider. No doubt the features would make this a nice addition to the living room.
The JournE is going to be priced at about 250 Euros or about 350 US, and should be released in the last quarter of this year. Sascha from Netbooknews.com has a hands-on video of the JournE right after the break, enjoy!
