Video: BumpTop went Multi-Touch.
We did a review on Bumptop a while back when it first come out and We thought it was a nice option for those that need organization on their desktops. It’s a cool idea of organizing your computer desktop as if it were just like your desk’s top at the office.
That was the core idea behind this new 3D desktop tool. But no mater how organized or cool Bumptop was you still needed a mouse and keyboard to orchestrates it usefulness.
BumpTop 1.2 is now available, and it has multitouch support to the already impressive list of features available for the 3D desktop, and it’s awesome. There are a whole range of touch controls that allow you to use multiple fingers to pinch, squeeze, lasso things, shove, scrunch, rotate, toss, pan, zoom, and even crop photos.
There are gestures that use all of your fingers, or both hands, and even the side of hands. Unfortunately, we don’t have too many devices with capacitive digitizers to really put this technology into play at the moment. But all indications are that soon enough, there could be a range of devices on the market with such capabilities.
Sorry, Mac and Linux users, this is still a Windows only gig. To take advantage of this you’ll need Windows 7. If you don’t have Windows 7 or a touchscreen, BumpTop will work on a majority of Windows-based PCs just fine with more traditional input devices.
