Video: DFI Hybrid Motherboard runs two whole systems at same time
DFI has created a motherboard unlike one we have seen before. The new motherboard, dubbed as the Hybrid P45-ION-T2A2 supports both high performance P45/LGA775 based systems, and a Atom/Ion based system.In other words it’s running two computers on a single board.The Hybrid P45-ION-T2A2 motherboard can actually house a complete Atom / Ion-based system on one side, while handling a Socket 775 CPU system on the other.
This is really some impressive engineering, and one I never would have imagined. I mean we all know about hybrid cars, hybrid plants or even hybrid technology for grahics cards, but a hybrid motherboard running two systems.This is one hybrid worthy of our attention for sure.
This impressive feat has a small external button that can be pushed to switch on the fly between platforms. There are options to run both platforms simultaneously or you can simply shutdown the one your not using.
The left side of the system is for the NVIDIA ION and Intel Atom platform which could be used as a low power file sharing or torrent download system, and the other side has the traditional P45 + Socket 775 CPU motherboard which can be utilized for gaming or any other graphics demanding applications.
Looking at the video it appears there’s still some small bugs to work out, these guys can master this technology I’m sure and no doubt we’re in for a treat when it comes to innovative boards cropping up in the very near future.
