Wire Your Home with Ethernet Cable
It’s been real joy watching movies on the big screen in my living room, but it’s also a pain because it can take ages to transfer my movies wireless from the desktop to the media center PC.
This gets old after a while, and gets older when you know that a hardwire configuration would make that connection speed move like lighting. Besides my wireless connection being slow I was always concerned about security of my network and bandwidth. I really wanted to use a hard wired solution for home networking.
Slowing I keep mounting reasons to having a wired network which would allow me to have a private and secured high speed network at home for Internet access, file sharing, media streaming, online gaming (the PC and my Consoles), or any other benefit from usingĀ a standard Ethernet type wiring.
Some research later, I have discovered a DIY tutorial over at Instructables that’s second to none on how to run CAT-5 or CAT-6 cables through out your home, walls, and attic without destroying your home. The step by step guide is based on setting up an actual cable switching box on a server-type rack.
The tutorial is also great if your one that just need guidance on how to run CAT 5 cable from room to room, there are photos and tips on finding, mounting and securing the cable through the walls without destroying your home. The guide also offers some additional tips and some cool options to that will make you drool.
If you have any tips or suggestions about running CAT 5 cable or setting up a multimedia center tell us about it or share some links.
